It's been over 100 years since Prudential first delivered With-Profits bonuses to its customers and I'm delighted to once again be able to announce excellent results for our With-Profits Fund.
The size of the fund has multiplied since those very early days and of course, we at Prudential have amassed considerable investment experience and expertise. Our approach, however, remains true to those early days and is focused on achieving sustained inflation-beating growth.
We want to provide our existing policyholders with a balance between a degree of security and potential for the future - so it is particularly rewarding in these times of economic and market uncertainty to be able to reassure you that the Prudential fund continues to be a success.
We're announcing a 7.2% growth for the fund for 2007, which is testimony to our team's expertise. In fact, our team now manages around £74 billion for our four million With-Profits policyholders and the fund has a rating of AA+ from independent agency Standard & Poor's*.
Please remember because the value of plans fluctuate, you may not get all your investment back. Also, we can't guarantee a final bonus, charges may vary and market value reductions may also come into play, which may reduce the value of your investment. But that's not all, our With-Profits fund growth of 91% over the last five years is significantly higher than the performance of our main competitors With-Profits funds announced so far this year. This welcome news shows once again that Prudential is a market leader in With-Profits management. The value of your policy will depend on when you actually invested and will be sent out in your annual statement. The value could change by more or less than the underlying 7.2% of the overall fund.
With-Profits investments aim to smooth the peaks and troughs of direct stock market investment and our strong performance demonstrates how investing in a strong, well managed fund can produce good returns over the longer term.
